As part of FBN’s mission to put Farmers First® by democratizing agricultural data, the FBN Data Science team surveyed growers across the country about their planting plans for 2025 and, using data analysis, turned responses into actionable insights.
This report was initially released exclusively to participating survey respondents on March 25 and is now publicly available to all FBN members and U.S. producers.

The report explores the predicted acreage mix for key crops across the United States for the 2025 growing season. The crops include:
Corn
Soybeans
Winter Wheat
Non-Durum Spring Wheat
Sorghum
Cotton
For example, survey data suggests growers are shifting away from soybeans and toward corn this year. The FBN Data Science team forecasts 95.5 million acres of corn in 2025, up from 90.6 million acres in 2024.
The report underscores that port fees and tariff uncertainty may likely impact certain crops.

With trade policy uncertainty top of mind, it’s critical to have a grain marketing strategy in place this year and to stress test how it would perform across various scenarios.
“I recommend our clients take a defensive and proactive approach in this environment of uncertainty,” said Cody Bills, director of U.S. Producer Advisory and Brokerage at FBN, during his grain marketing outlook for 2025.
An electronic survey was open to all U.S.-based FBN members for participation between February 11 and March 18, 2025. The survey collected the respondent’s:
Postal code
2024 planted acres
Intended acres for 2025 for key U.S. crops.
Incomplete or inconsistent responses were excluded from the analysis. Confidence levels vary by crop and are based on the number and geographic distribution of valid responses.
All personally identifying and farm-level related data have been excluded from the survey results. Only FBN has access to the raw data, which is stored securely and kept strictly confidential.
