Pair of Peafowl, peacock & hen Spaulding *****’s ******* - $400

This is a pair of peafowl, a male peacock, and a female Peahen, hatched from eggs from Kansas & Florida, unrelated, in early 2023.

They are both  ’s Violeta, which is a variety that has purple on the female’s neck and the male has a non-fading purple tail. (purple peacocks have tails which fade throughout the breeding season, also purple peacocks have a base color of brown, not the black that is in  ’s Violeta). Both of these birds are Spalding. That means that they have a Java green peafowl in their history, which provides a little more genetic diversity. Also, in my experience, Java, peafowl make very little noise, compared to India blue. These birds are in an aviary right outside my bedroom window and I rarely hear them unless there’s a predator around. Nonetheless they can be very noisy at breeding time around March through June, usually.

They are in quite a large aviary and they both fly well. They are wormed twice a year. Neither one has been handled so there’s no aggressiveness from the male at all.

The male has some toes that are crooked. They could have been straightened after he hatched, but they were overlooked. This shouldn’t interfere with him breeding. He has been matched with that female for over a year, and I won’t separate them.

So they are for sale as a pair only.
