The FBN HI-MAG MINERAL TUB is an alternative to feeding free choice minerals when cattle are grazing lush growth pasture potentially deficient in magnesium.
Magnesium deficiency (grass tetany) can occur when cattle graze forage that is rapidly growing, such as during the spring. Rapidly growing forage can have magnesium levels in new shoot growth that is less than the magnesium requirement of a cow, causing a magnesium deficiency.
The tub provides the benefits of water soluble carbohydrates to enhance fiber digestion and microbial efficiency in the rumen and consistent intake of minerals and vitamins similar to other tub products. This tub also supplies approximately 50% of predicted magnesium requirement to meet predicted needs in magnesium intake.
Free choice salt (NaCl) should be offered with this tub.
